IBH's Human Resource Management has had the responsibility of contributing to the assimilation of the organizational and cultural change brought about by the incorporation of the Orinoco Iron plant.

The company's mission is to make it possible for our clients to increase performance and product quality by reliably supplying iron metallic units that surpass their expectations and are in agreement with their steel processes. To fulfill this mission we need committed people with the following ideal qualities: maturity, leadership potential, human quality, self-control and personal and team achievement orientation.

Considering its cultural and organizational process, the company conceptualized its corporate identity, expressing it in a document to spread and reinforce the defined values. The concepts of quality, security, health and environmental protection are conceived as an attitude and an expression of competency. All this is part of a philosophy that will allow us to achieve our vision of being the most competitive and reliable supplier of iron metallics in the world.

With great pride, we report that thirteen of our Orinoco Iron experts provided technical assistance in the start-up of the Port Hedland plant in Australia. During one year, from October 1998 to September 1999, our technicians passed on their knowledge in the direct reduction technology operation to the technicians that are currently handling the FINMET® plant. It was an intense experience that demanded overcoming language difficulties. As a result we can assure that technical knowledge for the operation of the first FINMET® plant in the world was successfully transferred. The experience of these thirteen workers in the start-up of the plant will shortly prove to be of great value to begin operations in our own FINMET® plant.
